5 Minutes with … A Little Bit Food

Company Name: A Little Bit Food Co
Name, Job Title: Laura Bounds, MBE, owner

Tell us a brief history of your company, where and when it started and a bit about the company values.

A Little Bit was born from a desire to showcase the incredible versatility of herbs and their ability to transform the simplest of sauces or dressing into something extraordinary. Our range has been developed to allow people to enjoy the full flavour of delicious fresh herbs without hassle. The range includes dips, dressings, sauces, ketchups and vegan mayos.

Why is your product different/special?

All of our products are made using fresh herbs, which makes each and every one of them unique, with different delicious flavour combinations. We don’t use any preservatives, colourings or additives and the whole range is also gluten free and suitable for vegans.

What are your top tips for how to use your product / the serving suggestions and perhaps interesting pairings?

There are so many ways in which to use the A Little Bit range; our pasta sauces are obviously a fantastic addition to any pasta dish, but can equally be used for ratatouille, baked eggs or aubergine parmigiana; the dressings are delicious on salads but will also work beautifully as marinades for meat or fish, and our dips are certainly not just for dipping, working well in pastry tarts, in wraps or even stirred through risotto. Our Rosemary Ketchup is great used for traditional purposes, but also on homemade pizzas or for adding a little extra flavour to sauces, while our Vegan Mayos are versatile, and come in three delicious flavours, excellent for (vegan) burgers, dipping chips, with fish and more.

What is your favourite product in the range?

Has to be our Oregano and Olive Pasta Sauce, is just to die for!

Where is your favourite place to visit / eat / take some time out?

I am a big fan of the countryside, and find nothing better than a walk, a drink and some good food at your local pub.

What is the question you are asked most often about your product(s)?

The most common question is consumers ensuring the range is fully free from, which we proudly are.

What food/drink trends do you think we are going to see over the next 12 months?

I think local and British is going to be more important than ever over the next 12 months with the continued impact of Brexit and Covid 19. Consumers want to buy food they trust and also recognise the importance of supporting local.

If you had to eat just one thing for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Pasta, with A Little Bit sauce of course!
