Rescue Range Stilton & Broccoli Soup wins Taste of Kent Award

Our Rescue Range Broccoli & Stilton Soup has been awarded ‘New Kent Food & Drink Product of the Year’ at this year’s Taste of Kent Awards. Organised by Produced in Kent, The Taste of Kent Awards is now in its eighteenth year and recognised as the outstanding annual showcase of Kent food and drink. The awards promote a wide range of categories and are open to all food and drink businesses across Kent.

Curd & Cure were shortlisted for the award having completed an in depth application form, going on to then be interviewed by a specialist panel of judges. The criteria for the category was to be a food or drink product produced in Kent that is available to purchase from multiple retailers in the county. The product must have been launched to the market within the past 12 months.

The judges then assessed each application, selecting just 3 finalists, who then went on to meet the judges virtually, with a sample of the product submitted for a taste test.

Rescue Range Stilton & Broccoli Soup was announced as the winner at the awards ceremony on Thursday 12th May 2022, held at the Kent Event Centre.

Produced using up cycled Stilton and wonky potatoes & broccoli, the judges commented that the soup has “Well balanced ingredients and great consistency” with “Rich content of broccoli with well integrated edge from the Stilton”.

The judges’ feedback also included praise for the ethos behind the product and the work put in to bring it to market, “The passion and energy that has been poured in to the development of this product is clear to see. Having recognised and identified a serious issue affecting all wholesalers, Ruby led the project at Curd & Cure and demonstrated the commitment to challenge and change the norm of accepting food waste as inevitable. The result can be seen in this and two other flavours now on the shelves of retailers”.
